As winter has settled in, it’s important to be prepared for the colds and flu it brings about. As these respiratory conditions are quite common during the winter season, having the right tool at home can save you lots of energy and visits to the doctor. It often happens that even after a cold ends, there’s a persistent cough that lingers on for weeks on end. This can be really irritating especially as it lasts long.
Although there are a number of over-the-counter medicines that promise to relieve your cough, there’s nothing better than an effective home remedy. The recipe we offer here acts as a natural cough inhibitor, and it’s far more successful that store-bought one. On the plus side, it’s all natural!
Mix the following ingredients in a small saucepan:
- some fresh lemon juice,
- some organic honey,
- some water,
- some sugar,
- ½ tsp. ground ginger,
- ¼ tsp. ground cloves.
All of the ingredients are extremely health beneficial when it comes to relieving persistent coughs. For one thing, lemon juice is abundant in vitamin C; honey is a powerful antiseptic and a natural cough inhibitor; ginger supports your immune system and relieves pain and nausea, and cloves are abundant in antibacterial properties and reduce mucus.
After blending all the ingredients together, bring the mixture to a boil. Then simmer until you get a syrupy consistency. When the mixture cools, mold into drops.
