Health Risks Of Agarbatti

“Researchers found that the mutagenic, genotoxic, and cytotoxic agents in incense fumes were far more potent than those in cigarettes – in other words, they pose a higher risk of cancer than cigarette smoke!”

What Research Has To Say

Researchers across Asia and Europe have been investigating the safety of incense fumes, as burning incense is a common practice in most religions, from Hinduism and Buddhism, to Christianity and Judaism.

A few years ago, a group of researchers from the United States and Singapore investigated the relationship between burning incense and the risk of lung cancer.

The study which was funded by the National Cancer Institute, Maryland, appeared in the journal Cancer and warned about an increased risk of squamous cell lung cancer in those frequently exposed to incense or agarbatti fumes.
