Heart failure is the leading cause of death among men and women in the US. This occurs when a clot clogs an artery that supplies the heart muscle with oxygen-rich blood. This results in lack of oxygen in the heart muscle leading to cell death in that part of the myocardium (aka heart muscle). There are a number of risk factors that contribute to this life-threatening condition and the most common include smoking, high cholesterol levels, obesity and sedentary lifestyle.
According to research, heart attacks are predominant in men.

The most common warning signs that occur weeks before a heart attack include:
- Chest pain
- Backache
- Pain in the left arm
- Discomfort in the jaw
- Fatigue
Never ignore these early signs of heart failure as they can save your or someone’s life!
