Type 2 diabetes affects more than 24 million Indians and as many as 6 million people are not aware that they have diabetes. This isn’t a disease that is just an inconvenience, it is the leading cause of blindness and kidney failure among adults. Even worse is that Type 2 diabetes used to be considered adult onset diabetes, but it is now being found in children. This is alarming since this disease can cause loss of limbs, heart problems and even death.
Eat More Fiber
Fiber is usually toted as a good thing for the digestive system but it can also really help prevent diabetes. Fiber works within the body to improve your blood sugar control. It also has the added benefit of helping you feel fuller longer, which means it can reduce how much you eat at meals and how much you snack. This is beneficial for losing weight or preventing excess weight gain, and therefore reducing that risk factor for diabetes.
