Alzheimer’s disease is terrible condition. Here, we will present a story by the pediatrician Dr. M. T. Newport about her husband who got the disease in his 50s.
He had dementia five years prior the MRI when he got the diagnosis for the Alzheimer’s. He was in bad shape at that point of life. He was confused, couldn’t handle forks or spoons or get something from the refrigerator.
Dr. Mary would ask him if someone has called and he would answer- no. After two days he would remember and deliver the message. His parietal and frontal lobes in the brain and the amygdala and hippocampus were damaged and atrophied. Steve had no short term memory but he could make out new information after few days at least. Dr. Mary thought that his diet may affect the issue. He had medicines but they weren’t good. He got depression and lost weight, as well.
