1. Trimming the toe nail
The best way to get rid of the ingrown toe nail is to prevent it in the first place. The most effective way to do so is to ensure that you properly trim your toe nail regularly and avoid cutting it deep inside through the edges.

2. Hot Water
This is the most effective home remedy to remove ingrown toe nail. Soak the toe nail in the hot water for about 20 minutes. This will soften the toenail, hence it becomes easy to cut. It will also reduce the swelling. Hot water also helps in cleaning up all the dust and soil particles gathered in the toenail.

3. Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful disinfectant which helps the skin around the ingrown toenail to get soft. You can either mix half a cup of hydrogen peroxide in water and soak your foot in it for 15-20 minutes or you can directly apply it with a cotton ball to the toenail. It will help to reduce the infection as well as pain caused due to ingrown toe nail.

4. Lemon
This is one of the easiest home remedies for ingrown toe nail. All you have to do is take a slice of lemon and tie it on the toe using bandage. Leave it for the whole night. The acidity of the lemon will help in curing the infection.

5. Vicks VapoRub
This is simple and very effective remedy for ingrown toe nail. Apply vicks VapoRub directly to the ingrown toenail. It will give you relief from chronic pain in the ingrown toenail and also helps in fast healing.

6. Antibacterial Soap
Soak the the toe nail in warm water mixed with an antibacterial soap. Dry the the foot properly and place a piece of cotton under the ingrown toenail. After that, apply a thin layer of antibacterial ointment and wrap it with a bandage. This will help in outgrowing an ingrown toenail.
