Namkeen is a Hindi word derived from Namak (meaning Salt) is used to describe savory flavor. It’s a class of Indian snack , mostly made of gram flour and various pulses/Dals. Normally we used to buy it from store but sometimes I would like to prefer home made. Out of all these namkeen , Moong dal namkeen is the most simple and delicious. It’s a fried and basic salted split Moong dal namkeen I have learnt from my mother in law. So let’s start the recipe .

Ingredients:
1 cup split and washed Moong dal/green gram
Vegetable oil , for frying
2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
Method:
Wash and soak Moong dal in 2 cups of water.
Rinse water and pat dry it with paper towel.
Heat oil in a wok , add this dried dal . Fry on low to medium heat for 5-7 minutes with continuous stirring.
Remove from oil with the help of sieved spatula.
Drain on paper towel . Let it cool. Sprinkle salt on the fried dal.
Serve-2. Cooking time-20 minutes
Note: Don’t over fry the dal or else it will get burnt.
