The sodium bicarbonate is the other name for baking soda – and it is a chemical compound with white color and is solid crystalline, and it is commonly used in the form of fine powder. Its flavor is salthy and alkaline.

It has been used for many centuries and even the ancient Egyptian utilized the natural deposits of baking soda in order to paint their hieroglyphics.

John Dwight and Austin Church, two cooks from New York built up the first manufacturing factory making baking soda.
