Inflammation of the tonsils is a common condition especially in children. This causes pain, difficulty swallowing, and general malaise in the throat.
The tonsils are lymph nodes found in the back of the mouth and at the top of the throat. They help eliminate bacteria and other microorganisms to prevent infections in the body. A viral or bacterial infection can cause tonsillitis.
-Symptom:
-Difficulty swallowing
-Earache
-Fever, chills
-Headache
-Sore throat that lasts more than 48 hours and can be severe
-Tenderness of the jaw and throat
-Respiratory problems if the tonsils are very large
The problem can occur in one or both tonsils, almost always when the antibodies that produce the cells of their tissues decrease. In some cases it lasts between two and three days, according to their level of severity and treatment.
